External Investigation — diablo

External Investigation is a Shassar Sea side quest in Diablo Immortal. It triggers if the player talks to Captain Sahid whenever he appears in Tabri's Encampment.

Objectives

Find the Patrol
(Captain Sahid thinks there's a traitor in the Amber Blades after a surprise attack on their patrols. He's suspicious of Lam and Vinter. Talk to their patrolling partners for information.)
Ask about the suspects
(The patrollers described Vinter reading — and hiding — Peth's mail. Search Vinter's station.)
Search for evidence
(You've found a letter from Peth in Vinter's desk. It implies a gift exchange and a future meeting. Tell Captain Sahid.)
Go to the bunker
(Sahid's more confident that Vinter is the traitor. Head to the bunker in front of the camp and question Vinter.)
Defeat Lam and the Sand Scorpions
(Lam and the Sand Scorpions working with him are dead. Let Captain Sahid know.)

Captain Sahid: We've been betrayed. What happened in the front wasn't just bad luck — we've been set up!
For what it's worth, I don't trust our messenger, Vinter. Always clinging to his bag...plus I've caught him reading through Peth's mail before. And that new guy Lam's got a shifty look in his eyes. I get the sense he's hiding something.
Captain Sahid: They're out on patrol now. Would you like to talk to them? You're not one of us so maybe they'll let their guard down.

Class: You two are Vinter and Lam's partners, yes? Have you noticed anything strange about them lately?
Jordan: Lam is new to us. I don't quite know him. At times, Vinter stays out till late at night, but I have no idea what he's getting up to. Gade, do you know anything?
Gade: I keep waking in on him reading something secret. The moment he sees me, he's rushing to hide the parchments.
Jordan: That's all we know.

Suspicious Letter:
Vinter, last time we met, it was kind of you to bring me that gift. I have heard that you will soon prepare to transport supplies to an upcoming battle. Be careful. We will meet again when the time is right. -P

Captain Sahid: It appears Vinter might be the traitor.
Vinter should be on patrol in front of the camp. Adventurer, please go ahead and question him. We shall soon know the truth.

Vinter: Have you seen any of the Amber Blades? My shift partner never showed up...

Vinter:Whoa! Me? A Sand Scorpion? Never! And I would never read through Peth's letters. The only letters I've been reading are from my love, Pabi. If anyone is suspicious it's that guy Lam.

Vinter:I caught Lam going through Peth's things. But he claimed that he was just looking to learn more about our past strategies to make himself more useful to the Amber Blades.
He was so sincere in his apologies that I even forgot the incident even happened. Let's confront the guy together!

Lam: Damn! Have I been exposed? A pity, they should have killed you sooner.
Vinter: Lam, it was you! (attacks Lam)

Vinter: Lam attempted to kill us so we had to kill him. But I'm hurt! Did you really need someone to question me? All these years of working together, and you still don't trust me.
Class: You decided not to tell anyone about what you caught Lam doing... I'll leave you two to discuss that.
Captain Sahid: We should be more vigilant.
