The Scorched Chapel is a PvP Brawling area in Diablo III, accessed by asking Nek the Brawler to "Enter the Training Grounds" from any town. The character may appear at any location around the map, which is small-to-medium in size with a large triangular section on the east side and a more isolated smaller area to the west connected by a short bridge over a river. Various obstacles are scattered throughout, and an exit back to town is found on the northeast side (Town Portal can also be used). The area looks like many other outdoor ruins in Act I, with thick grass, gray stones, and run down metal fencing.
Players do not truly die in this zone - much to Nek's chagrin - making it safe for Hardcore characters. Reviving respawns the character at a random spot in the zone again. Items also take no Durability damage while fighting in the area.
All classes receive inherent Damage Reduction increases here: The melee classes (Barbarian, Crusader, Monk) have their inherent reduction increased from 30% to 35%, while the ranged classes (Demon Hunter, Necromancer, Witch Doctor, Wizard) get a 30% reduction.
The Scorched Chapel was added in Patch 1.0.7.[1]
