Shadow is an Elemental Damage type introduced in Diablo IV, and is depicted in dark purple (players) or dark red (monsters) hues. It is dealt primarily by the Rogue, Necromancer and Warlock classes and is based on the entropic power of Darkness. Its effects range from decay, infection, death and stealth. Shadow damage is notable for its burst and aoe damage, and is a good screen clearer.[1] The damage over time for Shadow damage is Corruption,[2] which can be increased by the amethyst gem.[3]
The Necromancer's Darkness Skills deal shadow damage, and can produce Desecrated Ground or miasma that causes corruption DoT.
The Rogue is able to imbue offense skills with Shadow damage by lacing weapons with cursed oils.[1] Enemies hit by Shadow-Imbued attacks become Infected. The Infection deals shadow damage when it expires, and will deal AoE Shadow damage .f the monster dies before its expiration[1]
The Warlock Abyss Skills deal shadow damage some skills apply a Hex debuff on the monster, or a Shadowform buff on the player.
