- Meshif(src)
Meshif was a former ship captain.
Biography
Meshif was born in Kurast, where he spent his childhood.[1] He made port runs around the Twin Seas and occasionally out to Kingsport in Westmarch. He also sailed across Sanctuary's southern seas and visited many strange lands. Whenever he stopped in Lut Gholein, Elzix offered him a free room in his inn. However, Meshif preferred the comforts of his own cabin. Similarly, he rarely frequented Atma's establishment. Lysander sold him many sea-sickness potions over the years, as many of his passengers didn't take well to the rocking of his ship.
At some point he had an encounter with an Amazon.[2]

Lut Gholein
- Meshif(src)
In 1264, Sultan Jerhyn ordered Meshif to stay docked in Lut Gholein in case of emergency, as the city dealt with the appearance of strange creatures in the desert outside the city. He obliged, though he knew that there was something that Jerhyn wasn't telling him; things in Lut Gholein didn't appear that bad to his eye.[2] He was eager for someone, anyone, to deal with whatever Jerhyn feared so he could resume his voyages.[3] He came into contact with a group of heroes who were persuing the Dark Wanderer.[2] As the heroes gained reputation in Lut Gholein, Meshif grew more excited about the chance to make the next tide.[3]
Eventually it came to light that demons had gained access to Lut Gholein through a portal in Jerhyn's palace, hence why he had asked Meshif to stay. The heroes were able to deal with the issue, and Jerhyn asked Meshif to wait some more, in case they needed to get out of the city. Eventually, at Jerhyn's request, he took them east to Kurast.[2]
Kurast
- Meshif after arriving in Kurast(src)
Meshif sailed into Kurast, finding to his dismay that the city was being overtaken by jungle; that he had boasted of the town on the journey to his home was a tragedy not lost on him. The heroes were able to defeat Mephisto however, and the jungle began to retreat. He thanked them, stating that Kurast could now begin to reclaim its former glory.[1]
Nation in Agony
Meshif in 1275
Meshif remained in Lut Gholein while the city endured demonic occupation. He resided in the city's common ward.[4]
Scouring Sands
Decades after the Reaping, an old Meshif, since retired from being a ship captain and his days of adventures, moved back to Kehjistan. He spendt most of his days at the Argentek Riverbank near to Tarsarak. He owned a camel named Isabella. [citation needed]
He would be eventually visited by Lorath Nahr and the Wanderer, who would request aid to cross a harsh sandstorm on the way to Elias's haven for the Triune. He often confuses Lorath for Deckard Cain, reminiscing on their adventures decades ago and never knowing what happened to the Last Horadrim.[citation needed]
Meshif's death
After crossing the desert and arriving at The Outer Gardens, Meshif remained outside, hiding. However, he was killed by cultists after Lorath stole the Sightless Eye from Elias. Isabella was taken by Lorath.[citation needed]
In-game
Diablo II
Meshif appears in acts II and III of Diablo II. He takes the player from Lut Gholein to Kurast, bridging the two acts.
In the latter, he trades the hero The Golden Bird for a Jade Figurine found in The Golden Bird quest. In the above mentioned quest, it is shown that he owns a figurine collection which was missing the Jade Figurine, which the player gives to him.
Unlike Warriv, he does not change clothes between acts.

Diablo IV
Meshif appears in Act III of Diablo IV. He aids Lorath and the player as a guide to cross through a sandstorm to the Outer Gardens, to find Elias. After Meshif dies, the Wanderer inherits his sword as a memento.
Personality and Traits
Meshif appears to have been a follower of the Skatsim faith. He had no desire to be immortal, stating "can you imagine having to wake up every night just to piss for the next thousand years?"[1] Fara and Jerhyn held him in high regard.[2]
By the end of his life, Meshif had become a drunkard and had gone slightly senile, often mistaking Lorath for Deckard Cain, despite Lorath's corrections to the contrary. Meshif longed for his old days of adventure.[citation needed]
